Learn To Use Maths To Create New Musical Ideas - Bass Lesson By Scott Whitley

In this lesson we'll look at how to use numbers and a grid to expand your musical vocabulary and invent new musical ideas you perhaps wouldn't normally come up with!

Essentially we'll look at breaking the bar down into subdivisions (8th and 16th notes) and drawing grids that represent these 8th/16th notes (you can download and print these grids here).

The next step is to fill out the grid randomly with crosses, these crosses will translate into interesting rhythmic phrases that you can then apply notes to on your bass!

The video will help explain the process in much more depth - have fun with it!
