This wasn't for me but a gift for my sister and I must say I'm very satisfied. I'm actually a guitar player but took some time to tune it and play some chords. I have tried playing a Juarez Ukulele before this and Mahalo is way better for many reasons. Firstly, you're getting a better deal considering price; a beginner ukulele player will always look for cheaper options. Secondly, the paint and finishing on the body is amazing and much better than Juarez. Thirdly, the strings sound better and chords sound perfect. Finally, the unique smiley face design is enough to catch the eye of anyone. I mean at this price range it can't get any better - if you're looking for an ukulele below 2k, this is definitely the best option out there.
