Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute Electric Guitar
Gibson's Les Paul 50's Tribute solidbody electric guitar pays homage to that formative decade while giving you incredible playability and comfort, along with the classic growl and bite of P-90 Soapbar pickups. The 2013 Les Paul 50's Tribute gives you the classic LP tonewood combo - a mahogany body topped with a maple top, but this axe sports Gibson's traditional weight relief, so you can rock all night in comfort. And playability is top-notch: wrap your hand around the chunky '50s profile neck and you'll feel instantly at home. Play a classic: the Gibson Les Paul '50s Tribute.
The Les Paul recipe for sustain - mahogany body with maple top
Gibson's Les Paul '50s Tribute gives you the robust sustain you need for hot solos and crunching power chords. What's Gibson's secret? A major part of the Les Paul's tonewood recipe is the fusion of a maple top on a mahogany body. This combination is largely responsible for the legendary Les Paul sound - as well the LP's reputation for being rather heavy. But fear not! Gibson's traditional weight relief has been scientifically applied to this 'Paul - giving you all the sustain, without the pain. Now you can play marathon gigs without next-day visits to the chiropractor. The Gibson Les Paul '50s Tribute - it's what rock dreams are made of.
Legendary P-90 single-coils onboard
The Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute sports a pair of P-90 Soapbar pickups. Gibson's first successful single-coil pickup, the P-90 can be heard on countless classic recordings. With its biting treble and high output, the P-90 cleans up nicely when you roll back your guitar's volume pot. And when you hit your amp hard, the P-90 really wails. It's an amazingly versatile pickup (more so, arguably, than most humbuckers). Check out the Who's Live at Leeds to hear Pete Townsend coax a jaw-dropping range of tone out of his P-90 equipped axe.
That chunky 50's-style neck
The first Les Pauls had huge necks, but by 1960 the neck underwent several modifications until it became what's known as the slim-taper design, which clearly is for wimps, right? If you're going to play a Les Paul, you want something you can actually grab onto. The neck carve on the Gibson Les Paul '50s Tribute isn't quite as chunky as some of the originals, but it's fatter - and considerably more satisfying - than the '60s slim-taper design. But it still has that warm, classic Les Paul feel, allowing easy access to the upper frets so you can really dig into your solos!
