A Major

The A major chord is the first chord in the key of A. Its notes are A, C# and E. Place your first finger on the fourth string's second fret, place your second finger on the third string's second fret and third finger on the second string's second fret. It's a happy sounding chord that can be played on guitar and is commonly used in pop music and you'll find it in lots of songs. It's also a very simple chord to play on guitar.

C Major

The C major chord is a good place to start. It’s simple and easy to play, and it’s the first chord you should learn to play. In fact, it’s the most common chord in pop and rock music. To play this chord, all you have to do is hold down three of your fingers on the lowest three strings: The 1st finger on string 6, 3rd finger on string 4 (the middle-thickest) and 4th finger on string 2 (the thinnest). Then use your little finger to play the open 5th string above them all!

D Major

This one is a major chord, just like E. It's easy to remember because it has two notes that are the same as the open strings on your guitar: D and A. Place your first finger on the third string's second fret then second finger on the first string's second fret. Place your second finger on the first string's second fret and your third finger on the second string's third fret. If you want to play in the key of D major, this is a great starting point. All you need to do is find other chords that go with it!

E Major

E Major is a very popular chord shape that you can use in many different songs. To play an E Chord, place your first finger on the third string's first fret. Place your second finger on the fifth string's second fret and place your third finger on the fourth string's second fret.

G Major

G major is a popular chord that can be played by beginners. It's easy to learn and used in many songs. The G major chord is made up of the notes G–B–D, to play the G major chord place your first finger on the fifth string's second fret. Then place your second finger on the sixth string's third fret. Next place your third finger on the first string's third fret. Strum all six strings, that's the G major chord.

A Minor

A Minor is a common chord to use in folk music and country music. It's also a simple chord to play with only three fingers. To play the A minor chord, Place your first finger on the second string's first fret. Place your second finger on the fourth string's second fret. Next place your second finger on the fourth string's second fret. Now strum the last 5 strings to listen to the A minor chord.
