Bad finishing, there are few locations where it has not been painted. There is also a small crack in the right top edge. There fingerboard is really very rough, does not look like ebony at all. There are black paint trails in the finger board.
Firstly regarding the purchase - I had seen this violin for about 700 less on a different website, however the trust that Bajaao has earned over the years made me order it here. I did get a 5% off coupon finally from Bajaao. The 530 for shipping was a bit of a turnoff. At current times, when you order a product worth over 10k, you do expect free shipping. Nevertheless, I ordered and got the product on the promised date at my house in Guwahati. It was however 11 days from the date of placing the order. But considering the current pandemic situation, I guess its okay. Now coming to the instrument, well I am actually a guitarist an not really a violin player. I do play a couple of notes or songs on the violin but thats all. Now, this violin is not really a cheap one if you are a beginner. So the product, finishing, box as well as the sound is pretty good and at par with the price that you pay. It looks and feels premium. My experience with guitars has taught me that the cheapest ones always give shitty sound, but once you hit the mid-range, you get a huge improvement in sound quality. I guess for violins too it is similar. I have played the 3000-4000 violins and compared to those, this one sounds pretty decent, infact its really good and quite worth the price.
superb sound with easy play
