The Ibanez SIX27FDBG-NT Iron Label S 7-string electric guitar in natural is a welcome addition to the S Series of models. Making fantastic use of Ibanez's expertise, this model combines graceful design with solid build quality and a healthy dose of raw power. If you're looking for a 7-string that plays like a dream, sounds like a beast and looks drop dead gorgeous, it doesn't get much better than this - a professional quality product at a price we can all take advantage of.
The Ibanez SIX27FDBG-NT Iron Label utilises the signature shape of the S series to ensure a finely honed model that is contoured to create a delightfully comfortable playing position. The sculpted bubinga top doesn't just look pretty, it guarantees that the roaring power of the mahogany body doesn't get ahead of itself. The result is a searing tonality that is warm and articulate, with just the right amount of energy. Abalone body binding seals the bubinga nicely.
Married to the neck is a sublime ebony fingerboard, which is home to 24 jumbo-frets that are bound to ensure the transitions between them feel smooth and seamless. The deep double-cutaway profile of the body, combined with the elegant and slender Nitro Wizard profile ensures that this 7-string model feels as familiar as a 6-string.
The Ibanez SIX27FDBG-NT Iron Label is equipped with a pair of DiMarzio PAF 7 humbuckers - one in the neck position, and one in the bridge position. Between this pair you have access to a vast array of tonal delights. The neck provides a beefy clout that is capable of pummelling all-comers, whilst the bridge provides an articulate yet searing onslaught. However, do not be fooled into thinking this is a one-trick pony, as the DiMarzios issue a consistent and smooth output from quiet to loud levels - making them ideal for a wide range of applications from Jazz to Metal. Control comes in the form of a master volume pot, a master tone pot, and a 3-way pickup selector. What you decide to do with the setup is totally up to you, so get creative.
The body is home to a solid Gibraltar Standard II-7 bridge, which creates a steadfast connection between each string and the body. Each string can be adjusted with regard to action and intonation for supreme accuracy, whilst the gold hardware complements the natural finish perfectly.
