Gibson 2014 Les Paul Signature Min-ETune product overview by GAK
2014 sees Gibson guitars celebrate their 120 year anniversary and what better way to mark this milestone than with the exiting new Gibson 2014 Les Paul Signature Min-ETune. Classic styling and next generation upgrades have been blended perfectly to create a great new addition to the legendary Les Paul family. Lets take a closer look.
The Gibson 2014 Les Paul Signature Min-ETune has a solid mahogany body which has undergone "traditional weight relief". This process keeps all of the iconic Les Paul style and tone but reduces the overall weight to give a lighter strapped on feel. With the exception of the ebony finish, all of the Gibson 2014 Les Paul Signature Min-ETune models come with a carved AA figured maple top trimmed in deluxe three ply binding. This is a great looking guitar.
The glued in neck is once again made of mahogany and has the chunkier, rounder 50's profile. It carries a bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 cryogenic-treated long life frets and traditional trapezoid inlays. There is also a commemorative 120th Anniversary inlay at the 12th fret, which is a nice touch.
The Gibson 2014 Les Paul Signature Min-ETune is loaded with a pair of legendary ’57 Classic humbuckers. They have independent volume controls with push-pull coil splitting, a built-in 15 dB boost on a mini-toggle switch, master tone pot with Orange Drop capacitor, and a three-way selector switch. As you will hear in our GAK in-store demo video below, the range of tone is quite amazing. Anything from warm, jazzy clean tones, a powerful crunchy overdrive or full blown scream, its all at your fingertips.
Now we move onto the amazing Gibson tuning system known officially as Min-ETune. It is a compact, non-obtrusive battery-powered robot tuner that tunes your guitar in seconds, delivering 80-100 tunings on a single charge. Turn on the Min-ETune to tune all six strings to perfect pitch automatically and as if that wasn't enough you have the option to select any of 12 popular alternate tunings (including six you can program in yourself) or you can even adjust your guitar’s tunings to match other instruments. You can, if you prefer, tune the Gibson 2014 Les Paul Peace Min-ETune manually.
The hardware on the 2014 Les Paul Signature Min-ETune is just as you would expect from Gibson, simple and very efficient. A chrome Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece with a black TekToid nut provide outstanding resonance, sustain and intonation while enlarged strap buttons (new for 2014) give you even more security when playing whilst wearing a strap. The finishing touches include the new Max Grip black speed knobs and a silk screened pick guard with Les Paul’s signature, all things considered the Gibson 2014 Les Paul Signature Min-ETune is a very stylish beast.
