Kala KA-15S-H1 Soprano Ukulele
Warm Fundamental tone with plenty of bite and brittle
The Kala KA-15S-H1 Soprano Ukulele reflects the easy and fun-going Hawaiian culture in both design and tone. The ukulele is reasonably priced making it ideal for beginners. Its body is crafted from top-quality mahogany tonewood that offers a clear low end and midrange, resulting in its soprano voice. The ukulele is fitted with a Laurel fretboard that soaks stray overtones in its oily pores to ensure a warm and articulate tone. Laurel also gives a lovely woody sensation when you lay fingers on it. The Kala ukulele has a NuBone nut that can take up any sort of pressure to retain the clarity of the tone. There are four geared tuners in the headstock, which can be used for tuning the ukulele.
Meticulous Body Design
To receive the right sound quality, expert luthiers at Kala has applied traditional techniques to construct the ukulele. The use of quality tonewoods and plys make the ukulele resonate its unique tone. Kala has selected mahogany for the main body and neck to get the fundamental warm tone. The mahogany body also provides grind and adds depth to the overall sound quality. The mahogany neck ensures the sound retains its warmth when it travels from the neck to the guitar body.
A nice balance of warmth and clarity is maintained with the aid of the Laurel fretboard. It enhances the midrange and the low end to provide a full and rounded sound at higher frequencies. The reason behind most musicians preferring Laurel over other similar fretboards is not just the sound, but sensation they get from Laurel as they strum across the strings. The Laurel bridge promises to keep the warmth intact while transferring string vibrations in the body.
NuBone Nut and Aquila Ukulele Strings
The characteristic warm sound of this ukulele is a result of its Aquila ukulele strings. A special Nylgut material is used for these strings, which inherits the qualities of both nylon and gut. Strumming these strings become a pleasant experience in itself. Kala has incorporated the evolutionary nut NuBone in this ukulele. It is made by patented Graph Tech’s TUSQ material. NuBone shows rigidity under pressure and ensures the ukulele keeps delivering the same sound quality till the end.
Stylish Body and Finish
The Kala Ukulele body offers excellent playability. It is specially made for both casual strummer and beginners. The ergonomically designed body fits perfectly in a player’s hand. Very good sound quality.
Quality Product ... go for it.
From Nut and Saddle to strings and body, everything is great. Bought for a friend. He is very happy. Great sound quality too
The product is good. I liked the ukulele. Thank you for satisfying my want.
My first musical instrument. Im having a lot of fun with it and learning a lot too.
Love love love it! It's lovely. My very first uke. And I'm beyond happy with it.
After a good amount of research online, I finally decided to choose this as my first ukulele. Firstly... the looks...... the ukulele which I received had a darker wood than shown in the picture. This may be a minus point for a few buyers but worked for me. The body did not have any sharp edges or construction flaws. However this is just a beginner ukulele from kala so on close observation you may notice some minor craftsman ship errors. Higher priced ukuleles do have something more to offer.Secondly... the design of Hawaii islands laser tattooed on the body looks really awful. The finishing of it is really bad !!!!.... I mean really bad. But once you are used to looking at the instrument, due to its dark wood you will barely notice the design. Having said this, this is a Great BEGINEER ukulele. I have tuned it and initially the Aquila strings take a while to remain tuned, this ukulele is holding the tune pretty well. Also the sound of this ukulele is very loud which makes it a great bonfire party uke for playing out among friends and family. The uke comes with geared tuners and they had no play. Trust me, ukuleles a lot more expensive than this one have an enormous amount of play in them, so they are going to hold the ukulele strings in tune for a long time. I shall put a more detailed review after a using it for a couple of months.if the ukulele lies in your buget, you may try it out, I am sure the instrument would be a delight.Cheers !!!!!
