I bought this microphone as an instrument mic for my acoustic guitar...Acoustic guitar amplification for the stage gig, especially, if you do body percussive strumming like I do, is the holy grail of sound engineering for any musician. Needless to say, there are plenty of methods out there, most of them way beyond the scope of my pockets! So I rigged a little 'mic holder' on the body of my 'budget' acoustic guitar where this microphone sits snugly in, and the gooseneck allows me to point the cardioid pickup element right at the sweet spot of the guitar...in my case, midway between the sound hole and the lower edge. This allows me to move around a bit while I play, without having to tether myself to a conventional mic on a stand. I am in acoustic heaven, nowadays!! This mic has a beautiful dynamic range that brings out the best of my acoustic guitar. And the built in low end roll-off helps eliminate any unnecessary boxiness from the sound hole. And the cardioid pattern defends impressively against any feedback...
