Good product but Scratches on display

Sorry for the late response to this mail about feedback. Overall the product was good, but i was little bit disappointed because of the display as it had scratches all over. This product (Zoom R24) was an anniversary gift for me so it mattered me lot. I wish i could send the pics of the display which have scratches. Thank you

Good, useful gadget for those who know how to go about it.

I use both Zoom R16 and R24. I am an ageing musician, based in Calcutta, India. I cannot afford to buy expensive gadgets. Even these Zoom recorders are a strain on my pockets. However, I find both the machines useful, though the preamp is weak. I have to use an external preamp to get what I need. Both the machines are remarkably quiet and they do not occupy much space. Handling these two recorders is no major problem even for a slow-wit like me. In the past, I worked as a professional radio broadcaster in the USA and in Germany and before that I was with the All India Radio, Calcutta. During my association with broadcasting I became familiar with recording gadgets, microphones, etc. I dare say that the Zoom multitrack recorders can produce broadcast worthy results if the user knows his ways about recording gadgets and microphones and the recording environment. If one has a musical voice and if one has the ability to please normal people with his/her singing he/she can use these two recorders even for CDs. I have done it myself. All you have to do is to tell people that you got your stuff recorded and mixed in a famous sound studio where you spend fortunes to work for a few hours. Don't ever tell people that you got your recording done on a Zoom multitrack recorder which also allowed you to take a quality mixdown. The point is, one must have proficiency as a musician and at the same time have enough working experience with digital recorders and microphones in the age of electronics. I believe the so-called "home recording" can well be as good as recording done in a studio provided the user is capable of making good music and knows, at least to some extent, the mechanisms of the recording gadgets of today. Finally, Zoom has done a great job in packing so many useful things in machines that do not cost a fortune. I strongly welcome this spirit of democratisation. Thank you, Zoom!
