The Oxygen 25 USB MIDI Keyboard Controller 3rd Generation delivers next-generation functionality from M-Audio, an innovator in mobile music production technology. The 25-key Oxygen 25 board features eight assignable knobs, plus dedicated transport and track select buttons. DirectLink mode automatically maps these controls to common DAW functions including transport, mixer, track pan, and plug-in parameters. Built-in factory presets offer support for popular virtual instruments right out of the box so there's no complicated setup required. Velocity-sensitive keys and a sleek, compact design round out a portable keyboard that's perfect for laptop production, live DJ performance, triggering samples, or composing on the go. No other MIDI controller in this price range has so much functionality while remaining easy to use and extremely portable.

Streamlined Session Control: Featuring eight assignable knobs, a programmable slider, dedicated transport controls, and track up and down buttons, the M-Audio Oxygen 25 gives you total control over your session, allowing you to stay engaged in the creative flow of recording and mixing music rather than being interrupted by the constant back and forth between a QWERTY keyboard and a MIDI controller. DirectLink mode automatically maps Oxygen 25 controls to common DAW parameters while factory presets provide instant mapping to popular virtual instruments including Xpand!2, Hybrid, Velvet, Strike, Oddity, ImpOSCar, and MiniMonsta. Use the dedicated select buttons to quickly switch MIDI channels and presets for tactile control over multitimbral hardware and software instruments. Interfacing a MIDI controller with your music software doesn't get any easier than this.

Professional Quality MIDI Keyboard Controller: M-Audio is a pioneer in the category of mobile MIDI keyboard controllers. Thanks to continued innovation over the course of nearly a decade, you'll find that the Oxygen 25 controller has a solid, reliable build and puts as much musicality into the keyboard as it does into the complement of other MIDI controls.

Pro Tools Compatible: The Oxygen 25 MIDI controller offers out-of-the-box integration with Pro Tools software, which is the industry-standard DAW found in professional, project, and personal studios around the world. With DirectLink, the Oxygen 25 controls instantly map to key parameters on the Pro Tools Mixer, Edit and Transport windows, as well as the powerful suite of virtual instruments bundled with Pro Tools. Together, Oxygen 25 and Pro Tools software provide streamlined workflow in a formidable system with tons of interface options and industry-standard file compatibility.

Ultra-Compact Design: The Oxygen 25 keyboard packs an amazing amount of control for DAWs and soft synths into an incredibly small footprint. There's always room for it even in the most crowded desktops, efficient stage rigs or compact studios. It's also the perfect complement to your laptop for making music anywhere inspiration strikes, whether relaxing on the couch, writing on a plane, or jamming on a tour bus. With the M-Audio Oxygen 25 MIDI controller, you can carry your entire mobile laptop studio in a shoulder bag.

Good MIDI but also recommended M audio Axiom 25

The oxygen is a good "starter" controller, but if you're really in need of a 25 key midi controller there are much better (albiet slightly more expensive) options available. The biggest problem I have with this unit is the lack of true Midi ports. It uses USB midi, which is OK for users who are going soft synth only but is really not useable for individuals who need to interface with midi devices other than a lap top. The build quality is fine, it's not particularly solid but the knobs, wheels, and keys are responsive enough for a device in this price range. If this is all you can afford then it will get the job done. But if you have an extra 100 dollars, I would recommend looking at M-Audio's AXIOM 25.

best for live use

The Oxygen 25, the smaller sibling of the Oxygen 49 and Oxygen 88, is around 16 wide, 9.5 deep and almost 4 high, weighing in at just under 2 kg. Although this is a small, light keyboard, shes not the smallest of midi controllers. Transporting it in a backpack is still doable, just make sure its a roomy one. I have read a number of reviews stating they expected the product to be smaller. If complete portability is a major deciding factor, you would be better off going for an ultra-compact midi keyboard, which would fit in a computer bag easily.Overall, this MIDI controller is a great value for rs 8500. It is well designed, light weight and feels great. Loads of features make it ideal for both music production in studio, or controlling sound parameters in live use.

Must have for beginners

I just starting using this controller recently...so I will give you my opnion based on what I know so far. First, It's a nice little controller...I'm using it with Mixcraft 6 ( Which is awesome) and it so easy right out of the box. I mapped all the controlls and sliders the way I wanted to. I have little experience with MIDI controllers but this one seems to do the job just fine! If your a beginner like me then go ahead and buy this thing if you can't afford an expensive keyboard like me.

Perfect size, Great utility

When I ordered this, I wasn't sure if it would be the right controller. I already have an axiom 61 and am very pleased with that. Now wanting also something smaller (25 keys) and inexpensive (and more mobile) I thought I'd stick with m-audio.Size was very important to me. It's always hard to tell on pictures how big something actually is.. But it's smaller and more compact than I thought. The build quality is also very very good.. just like the axiom 61. I even prefer the knobs on the oxygen 25 because they turn smoothly (like on a dj mixer) and not like on the axiom where they click. I was thinking about getting the akai pro Mpk25 because that seems to be really good for mobile use. Already tried out the korg nanokey which is in my opinion a joke. Akai pro doesn't have full size keys either so I went for the oxygen 25. Of course the oxygen can't compete with the akai/korg size-wise but it's still really compact. It'll fit in a normal sized backpack, no problem. So overall it's a great midi controller. For at home or on the go. I assume it would be pretty awesome for live use/djing as well. One thing extra I would have liked would be one or two more faders... But you can't have everything : )
