Better that others in the price range

This stand is quite sturdy. I've used it with several condenser microphones, both upright and inverted. Rarely have I needed a counterweight to keep the stand from toppling over.With the boom pole fully extended, a little counterweight is needed to keep the stand from toppling over. You can use ankle weights used in gyms and training for counterweight.There are 2 drawbacks though.1. The clutch grip is not smooth.2. The central pivot does not stay in place. The mic keeps on drooping, however tight you keep the central pivot screw. The washers just give way beneath the mic load.
