Harley Benton R-458 8 stringer (A Thomann De brand)

It arrived after a month long waiting. My review :-Pros:-1. The cheapest 8 string in the market. Honestly no one comes even close to this price range.3. Good neck profile, for fast playing.4. Good fret intonation.5. Light weight.6. Satisfactory clean tones, albeit super bright and twangy.7. Looks good, and does not at all look or feel cheap.Cons:-1. Pickups are NOT good, very twangy sounding, noisy with lot of feedback, despite the fact they are Wilkison 2. The 8th F# string will sound sloppy due to the shorter scale length.3. Patches of drippy paint work.4. Rough protruding fret edges.5. Using distortion in this guitar will sound as if using Boss Metal Zone pedal..for a TelecasterThis guitar can't be your main axe. You can swap up, at least the bridge pickup with something better. For those guys who are unsure and just want to explore the world of extended range guitars without breaking the bank, this is it. I have tuned it to BEADGBEA (the high A is 0.007 gauge D'addario) rest i moved all the strings one slot up. I learnt one trick in this guitar though, if you tune a semi note lower than the BEADGBE set-up, the lower strings do sound gnarly, better tone dynamics. For those guys who are adamant to stick on to 8 strings, buy something better, in the range of 70k+, or atleast the Jackson JS32 series 8 stringer or the Ibanez RG8. Remember importing an Agile extended range guitar, costs a bomb in India.Overall this is the most value for money 8 stringer, I would highly recommend for tryouts. Had the pickups been better, it would had been a 5 star product.

Bang for your buck!!

Its a way to introduce yourself into Extended range guitar without burning a hole in your pocket.Build quality is solid and the finish is excellent. Only the pickups are muddy(can't complain though at this price point). If you swap the pickups which will definately cost you more than the guitar than this can be a beast. Overall satisfied with the product and thanks to bajaao for making this product available .Will upload a full review in Youtube soon.
