The Epiphone 100 CE is an incredible instrument and also a sight for sour eyes. This beauty comes in two finishes and features a Select Spruce Top , which (apparently) warms the tone of the guitar with age. The shape on this guitar is an advanced jumbo and though I personally dig the warm deep tones of a dreadnought, this guitar has a very nice ring to it ( NOTE : its a little high on the treble side ). Harmonics sound brilliant and crystal clear. The machine heads look and feel amazing and remain in tune for a considerably long time. Drop tunings are a definite go, especially if you wanna play some heavy riffs ( Alter Bridge, Sevendust, Karnivool , Porcupine tree etc might be bands you'd consider covering acoustically with this baby), Also , this guitar sounds amazing in open tunings ( Open D , open G , and also DADGAD)Coming to the electronics, this guitar features an under-saddle NanoFlex pickup system. The tone from this is on the high gain side, and sounds ethereal when mixed with a miked signal. Be wary of the jack though; if you fix a strap, it might loosen up, and you'll get a dead signal. The fret board is good, but I would recommend getting a pack of Lemon oil.(The one that I bought had a very dry fretboard and I had to smother it in lemon oil . But yeah, the fret board felt brand new after a few days.) Also, I would recommend changing the stock strings to Daddario's or Earthwood's. The stock strings sounded way too chime like .( Again, just a suggestion :P)The neck is comfortable and strikes a balance between a 'Fenderesque' neck ( fat) and a fastneck (thin). That being said, I would've appreciated a slightly fatter neck with a Matt finish( personal preference though ).Overall, this guitar is amazing for beginners and Novice players and does not compromise on tone or built quality, and is a friggin steal for this price. So go... get this beaut, and make music.....
