I ordered the pickup along with a SH-6N thinking it was new. But the box had crack and scratches all over also the pick up looks used and refurbished the box had tapes and no seal on it. i have been a loyal customer at bajaoo have ordered gear worth 38K and this is how i am treated not recommending in future to any musician again. and my review was hidden since i gave it only one star
I have a Cort X1 guitar which sounded horrible to my taste. I couldn't sell or exchange it because its my first electric guitar and so it has emotional value to me. I decided to change its pickups just to see if it sounded any better. I chose the JB & JAZZ to go into my guitar just because all my favourite albums (from early Megadeth to Marty Friedman (Solo to countless others) are made using this pickup set. After installing the pickups the sound of the guitar changed abruptly for good. The JB produces the punch and definiteness that I always craved for. I play mainly Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Rock Instrumentals, and Heavy Metal. And the pickup deals with the genres effectively (Work with the tone and volume controls of your guitar for the tones you want out of it). It responds great with the variation of tone and volume knobs. Every note sings out great with the pickups. The main thing that amazed me about this pickup is the how easily you can produce artificial harmonics with it. Just a pinch of thumb of the picking hand on the string and it generates some sweet singing harmonics from the guitar. I'm a great follower of shred era guitar players (Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, etc to Shawn Lane, Greg Howe, Ritchie Koetzen etc) and I love the clarity of the tones it generates. Legato, Sweep picking to alternate picking, any technique I do, I find each note sing with clarity. I've easily achieved old school heavy metal tones close to bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden etc to Glam bands like Dokken, Ratt etc.I've Long been using DiMarzio high output pickups (DActivatorX and FS1) in my Ibanez RG550XH, & love the tones it produces. And now I've got a different combination of pickups with an exceptional ability, which I craved for long and I am very happy with it.In short, I recommend this Seymour Duncan JB to every one because 1. The range of tones it produces. 2. The Clarity, depth and definiteness of tone you'll get out of it. 3. The singing harmonics it...
I have this particular piece as a part of the hotrodded set. I have a couple of problems with it, but it might be what you are looking for. It is bright and twangy (honky tonk-ish), but definitely adds a bite when switched (possibly cos of the bright boost). Can definitely play country although I guess its main usage is for rock...
