I bought it to connect my Yamaha Motif XF's MIDI ports to an Android device. The combination works. The cheaper Chinese USB MIDI adapters don't work properly at all, so invest your money on a quality adapter like this Roland UM-One MK2.

A necessary attachment to your Roland E-09 for a controller
I have a Roland E-09 keyboard and i needed to use that as a MIDI Controller to work with iPad Air2. I bought this attachment as a cheap 500 chinese MIDI interface was giving me a headache. I bought this official Roland MIDI interface and now all my problems remain solved. Great MIDI interface and it works universally.

Tried with two cheap usb cables from eBay did not work at all after buying this Roland usb cable happy with it and could set the instrument with the laptop in one go ,the product is expensive but no other alternate is left
