Not Worth The Price

If you have a fancy for the appearance, buy this mandolin, but if you are a musician (even a beginner), it is worthless for the following reasons: The bridge needs fine carpentry for a decent sound. Bridge is not shaped to sit properly on the sound board. The tuners make lot of rattling (like in a old bus) unless you fix them with some glue. Just tightening the fixing screws is not enough. And the tuners are of very cheap quality, tuning is not consistent and smooth - pitch 'jumps/slips'. The stock strings are not good. The second one snapped even at the first tuning (I did not over do it). In spite of all the 'tinkering' including bridge-position compensation, the tuning cross-checked at the frets is not perfect. After doing all these works, the sound will be satisfactory (therefore two stars). I could get the instrument after waiting for more than twenty five days, as it went out of stock after I placed the order (their web site was updated promptly). I needed some clarification on placing new order, and the staff did not even had the courtesy to call back in-spite of several requests. I was misled by them, who said this was a very good piece, though I was specific in asking about the quality. If you need a cheaper one you may buy an instrument within Rs 3000, and definitely not this instrument. If you still want to try this mandolin please see this link for tinkering/carpentry work that the instrument needs. It will be of use .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G3AZ0_sB8A . You can check with other links to learn about bridge position compensation to get good intonations and so on.
