The guitar is good no doubt. The bridge pick up is nice for shredding n has pretty high gain for Legato stuff. I feel it has a bit too much mids generally. The single coil is cool. But every other single coil in this price range is cool too. The Guitar has a cut at the back which allows it to settle on the player well. But still...I own a Steve Vai Gem and I would strongly recommend it more than the JS variants. The Gem has more stuff into it. Simple...it's a killer guitar with a wide range of tonal span. You could even get a Country tone out of the 2nd pick up position both ways. And as mentioned, the 'great' Keba Jeremiah uses it. But doesn't play ANYTHING Joe Sat plays so guys it's a matter of comfort. And since I play both Steve Vai AND Joe Sat I guess I have more say in this matter lol!!! It's a good guitar period. But nothing compared to the Steve Vai Gem.
