I bought this as a total beginner. It was effective in learning the basic skills of stick technique which were transferable to an actual side drum - without deafening the neighbours. It has continued to be a valuable learning aid now I have moved on to more advanced skills.
Great pad, durable and solid, doesn't move when you hit it thanks to the sturdy base, not too loud, good hardness, nice size and the delivery was quick. Essential bit of kit!
